The obligatory Michael Moore post: part 2
Army Spc. Joe Roche descibes how Farenheit 9/11, now making the rounds overseas, is having a "devastating" effect on troop morale:
Some of these soldiers are darn right ashamed tonight to be American soldiers, to have been apart of this whole mission in Iraq, and are angry over all that Moore has presented in his film.We know this is all based on Moore's lies and deceptions. But we, I'm afraid, are a minority. Right now, just days away from what should be a proud and happy return from 15 months of duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom, your U.S. soldiers are coming back ashamed and hurt because of Moore's work.
I can't describe how angry this makes me. I saw the damned movie in order to blog about it, decided that it wasn't worth my time especially considering the wide variety of rebuttal and critiques available on the 'net, but now I'm going back towards blogging about it. For now, I'll say that I never had a high opinion of Moore, and after I saw the film, I can only describe him as despicable. The film was overwhelming deceitful and manipulative, and I'm ashamed that someone as anti-American as Moore took advantage of the freedoms afforded by this country in order to smear its good name.
Spc. Roche, however, took a proactive approach and distributed copies of the Independence Instittute's rebuttal of the movie widely among U.S. troops in Kuwait. Hoo-ah!
